This is an inspirational message that applies to anyone who is a licensed Massage Therapist. I am whole-heartily a fan of people of this profession because they literally work hard to help either relax, help heal, or even fix kinks in certain areas of the body that are out-of-sorts due to over-exertion of activity and/or a freak accident involving a joint (such as an ankle or elbow). Getting a good Deep-Tissue or Thai Massage after such occurrences (in my case New York City next to the gym) is the perfect fix to that with proper after-care (heat therapy, cold therapy, and sports cremes to help in relaxing sore spots). Kudos to Ms. Roberts for this message!

We've definitely noticed on our site, http://www.hourtown.com, that service providers who send out communications to their customer base have an uptick in appointments.

May I add that the ability to personalize each client is a must and controlling any environment that the massage will take place. Special consideration should be made in identifying the client's favorite aromas, massage oils, massage equipment and favorite massage techniques. Yes, control is the key.

Control the what your client feels, smell and if possible, thinks and you will be controlling the massage business market.

Hello Amy, stumbled upon your information quite by accident the other day and it could not have happened at a better time. I have read and listened to everything that is posted and I would like to thank you what you are doing is fantastic. You see I have moved my practice from Miami FL. to a small town in northern Idaho (35,000 people, 75,000 with the outlying areas) and my practice sucks here. I practice a very unique form of body work which is not available anywhere else, it is a combination of Reiki, Reflexology, Touch for Health, body management( a specialized kinesiology) myoskeletal alignment, Neuromuscular Therapy, and massage. My treatments are so effective that I guarantee that should I not be able to significantly reduce your pain and discomfort in the first treatment there is no fee. I have put ads in the local papers like (Guaranteed pain relief, stating all the conditions I can relieve, with little results. One of the challenges I face is that this is not a licensed state so the medical community puts massage therapists somewhere on the food chain below the guy cleaning the hospital floors. That leaves chiropractors and PT's which are very protective of their clients, they do like massage therapist though, not for what we can do for people but because they can bill insurance $150 a session and pay the therapist $20. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Terry Smith LMT

Amy,
I enjoyed reading your article and always like to find information focused on client retention. It is the often overlooked, but most important aspect of business success. I'm looking forward to other articles.
